Child maltreatment electronic reporting tool
The aim of this project is to promote effective and timely communication between healthcare professionals and social services in cases of identified suspicion of child maltreatment. We are developing an electronic reporting tool to be embedded in hospitals’ ED computerized systems which will facilitate mandatory reporting to social services. The tool is intended to direct healthcare professionals in terms of what information is required for social workers decision making, improve documentation and provide feedback about the report being accepted and who is the responsible social worker.
This project will establish a unified Command-and-Control Center in the form of a digital dashboard, integrating data from social services and emergency room (ER) and Terem clinics visits to enhance communication and collaboration between healthcare and social systems. The dashboard is designed to address gaps in current workflows that may allow maltreated children to slip through the safety net of the state’s welfare and healthcare systems.
Serving as a centralized platform, the dashboard will enable the management of active cases, documentation and analysis of past cases, and the provision of real-time insights into a child’s health status and care urgency. By integrating data from both social services and healthcare, the Command-and-Control Center facilitates the early detection of child abuse and supports timelier, coordinated interventions for vulnerable children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
